PRELUDE Like a Bridge Over Troubled Water - played by Nancy Hilstad

PSALM 100

Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth.

Worship the LORD with gladness;

come into his presence with singing.

Know that the LORD is God.

   It is he that made us, and we are his;

we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving,

  and his courts with praise.

Give thanks to him, bless his name.

For the LORD is good;

his steadfast love endures forever,

and his faithfulness to all generations.

CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS

Lord, you have called us to worship you. We gladly gather!
As we praise you, though, our own inadequacy reminds us
of how we have broken our relationship with you.
Because we have sinned against you,
even our worship fails to be what it could.
Renew us, we pray, according to your steadfast love.
Remind us of your faithfulness
and have mercy on us in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Receive the good news of the Gospel:
In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Alleluia!

PRAYER OF THE DAY

Let us pray. O God of all, composer of life’s unending melodies, rich harmonies and compelling rhythms, inspire our worship and open for us a vision of your glory. Help us by your Spirit to offer ourselves to you as living sacrifices, through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Amen.

THE FIRST LESSON: 1 Chronicles 16:7-10

Then on that day David first appointed the singing of praises to the LORD by Asaph and his kindred.

O give thanks to the LORD, call on his name, make known his deeds among the peoples.

  Sing to him, sing praises to him, tell of all his wonderful works.

Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.

Word of God, word of life. Thanks be to God.

THE SECOND LESSON: Colossians 3:12-17

As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Word of God, word of life. Thanks be to God.

THE GOSPEL FOR THE DAY Luke 1:47-49

The holy gospel according to Saint Luke. Glory to you, O Lord.

And Mary said,

   “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,

   for he has looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant.

Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed;

  for the Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name.

The gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, O Christ.

SERMON         No recording of the sermon - the batteries gave out on the mic and so there is no video available...

HYMN OF THE DAY                “Magnificat”

THE APOSTLES’ CREED

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,

    who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary,

    suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried;

    he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven,

   he is seated at the right hand of the Father,

   and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,

   the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,

   the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION

THE SIGN OF PEACE IS SHARED

 The peace of Christ be with you always. And also with you.

THE OFFERING AND OFFERING PRAYER

Let us pray. God of majesty, in your might you have created all things, and you entrust to our care what you have made. Receive our offerings, and make them a sign of our dedication to provide for the needs of all people and creatures, in the name of the one who sustains all things by his word Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

THANKSGIVING FOR THE WORD

      - RECOGNITION OF MUSIC MINISTERS

O God of majesty, whom saints and angels delight to worship: Pour out your Spirit on your servants who, with the gifts of music, enliven our praises and proclaim your word with power. Through this ministry give us new awareness of your beauty and grace, and join our voices with all the choirs of heaven, both now and forever; through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER

Lord, remember us in your kingdom, and teach us to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,

thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread;

and forgive us our trespasses

as we forgive those who trespass against us;

and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,

forever and ever. AMEN
